I’m back home from the residency, but deep in the trenches of book writing, so I wasn’t reading as widely as I normally like. Still, here are a few things that clicked and read through this week:
What Does Virality Taste Like? (by my former student, incredible writer, and co-founder of Cake Zine, Tanya Bush)
My Hands in My Face (I thought Andrea Long Chu’s review of Ocean Vuong felt a little mean-spirited—Vuong seems nice! Has good politics! I liked Night Sky With Exit Wounds!—but I guess it was possible to one up her…I’ve yet to read either of Vuong’s novels, but it has been curious to see this piling on right now)
New Neighbor, Who's This? (one of those essays you read and wish you had the idea first)

Reading Rachel Monroe’s story on the Texas lottery—was very cool to chat behind the scenes in workshop and now see it finished: https://www.newyorker.com/news/letter-from-the-southwest/the-scheme-that-broke-the-texas-lottery?fbclid=PAQ0xDSwLCoNJleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABpyVHmBapXZ4lGiOfv2ZXl-gSNH4S6d5rPcXpXl1oi_vjXJMGfOUy-hQluApY_aem_7JzRQMfgsxgCg3dUgD5akA
